J: Jacket

Did you ever have a favorite jacket? I have… My first was actually just a denim shirt that I wore as an overshirt with just about everything. I was in my early 20s, ending a marriage and learning to do on my own. This was the era of hippies and I decided to try my hand at embroidery. I added a HUGE butterfly to the back after doing small flowers on the cuffs. I wish I had a photo of that. Heck, I wish I was the size I was back then.

I don’t remember any special jackets until I took up motorcycling. The first was a leather jacket from Fox Creek Leather. It was dressed up with red embroidery. I still have the jacket but unfortunately, it’s too tight over my middle. Sniff….

The other jacket I still have as well. It’s bomber style and SOOOO comfy, but again, too tight.

I’ve tried to sell both of these both online and at a bike show, no takers. Maybe I just need to lose some weight so I can wear them both again!

My A-Z this year are random thoughts, ideas, and whatever pops into my mind for the letter of the day. As in previous years, I will keep it short and sweet.

Till next time!

  1. One of my most memorable coats – not really a jacket – was a long black lamb’s wool that I got at Goodwill for a quarter. It was so warm and I was just starting college in ’69, so looked very groovy!
None of my motorcycle jackets fit right now either, by the way…

  2. I don’t remember a favorite jacket, but it sounds like you’ve had some fun ones.

    1. I have…the most jackets I’ve ever had was when I was a motorcyclist. At one point I have five leather jackets and three non-leather, all for riding.

  3. The leather with red embroidery is very nice. My current favorite is an old short puffy coat that I wear out in the yard. It’s SO comfortable. Some of the stuffing is falling out where I sewed it up but coming undone. I never want to get rid of it. I just bought a jean jacket a month or so ago and am waiting until it is warm enough to wear it. Would like to put some patches/decals on it.

  4. I’ve not had a favorite jacket. I mean, I like the ones I have now, but really can’t remember past ones. A leather one in high school. Someone put mashed bananas in the pocket at a basketball game. Weird.

  5. I like to think of your “post divorce jacket” as a piece of independence!
Interestingly I’d say one of my favorite jackets was a leather one. I was probably 17 or 18, not making much money of my own, apart from summer jobs, and I came across this fancy leather jacket. I didn’t usually do this but I begged my mom to give me an advance for Christmas and my birthday because I absolutely had to have this item of clothing. “Otherwise I’ll never be happy again,” I said to her. She wasn’t used to me being so dramatic and she gave me the money. I wore the jacket until it literally fell apart!

PS: I love your cute froggies holding a new letter every day, they look so happy!

    1. Glad you’re enjoying the froggies, I love playing around with graphics and it took me forever to find what I wanted for the website, then it was natural to add the letters once I found them.

Oh, and so glad you got your jacket and wore it out!! Best times!

  6. It’s sad when our favorite clothes don’t fit. Maybe you can resize both jackets? I hear it can be done.

    Have a lovely day.

    1. Thanks to an aging and thus weight-distributing body, probably not worth the expense. It’s not like I don’t have a ton of coats/jackets that do fit. LOL!

  7. I don’t have a favorite jacket, but I do sometimes gravitate towards one of my husbands. It’s a plaid overcoat. Nice pictures of you.
