Hello world!

I’ve had this domain for quite a while and only used it for testing changes to my other websites. But if I’m going to attempt the April A to Z Blog Challenge, I decided to activate it for that rather than 1) my author site that has been revamped as a blog-less website or 2) our family blog.

In previous years I’ve posted on both those blogs, sometimes at the same time. Here is my list of previous A to Z themes:

2012 – 10×10
This was my first ever A to Z and I had only written some online flash fiction at this point. So for this time I created a theme of 10×10, a maximum of ten sentences with a minimum of 100 words. I started with a list of random words, words that just popped into mine. Then I found a royalty-free related photo for the story. When it was complete, I compiled all the stories into a self-published book. You can get it for free by subscribing to my newsletter.
2014 – Spanish/English words
I decided to make it a bit tougher this time around:
1) I chose 26 words but they are Spanish words.
2) Each of the 26 words has an English translation that starts with the same letter.
3) I searched for free-to-use-commerically photos for inspiration.
2017 – Oh, the places we will go!
Still on my author blog, I went for my life and chronicled a variety of places we had visited since we met in 2008.
2018 – Tiny Tales
Another round of flash fiction with royalty photos but I used two words for each flash story. How did I chose the words? First I brought up a noun list for each letter, then averted my eyes, scrolled the mouse down, stopped and double-clicked. That was the word! The second word was chosen the same way but from a dictionary list of words.
2018 – The A to Z of Goldendoodles
This was done on our personal blog and featured our two almost one year old Goldendoodles, Cooper and Murphy.
2019 – Micro Fiction
This time around I went with micro flash fiction, using 300 words or less, inspired by selected words along with a photo for inspiration. The words were chosen in reverse order from a lesson plan page. (For example, for the letter A it was the 26th word on the list, for Z it was the 1st word on the list)
2023 – A to Z of Small Delights, Simple Pleasures, & Significant Memories
This one was a daily snapshot of my random thoughts and memories connected to the words selected for each letter.
2023 – My Life in Black and White
Done on another personal site, I chose to share a B&W photo I have taken for each of the letters, A to Z.
2024 – An Untitled Story
Done on my author blog, I created a serial story – using a list of words I obtained from a random word generator site. I started the story incorporating the first word (A), continue the next day with the second word (B), and so on. When done, I had a complete short story. After edits, I used it to create the free download when signing up for my newsletter and titled it “A Twisted Enigma”.

Now I just need to figure out my theme for 2025 – any suggestions?

Till next time!
